JEFF BEZOS

Jeff Bezos was born on January 12, 1964, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States. He grew up in a family of four, and his mother was a teenager at the time of his birth. Bezos showed an early interest in science and technology and was a highly skilled student in mathematics and science.

After finishing high school, Bezos attended Princeton University, where he graduated with degrees in computer science and electrical engineering. He then worked for several companies, including Fitel, Bankers Trust, and D. E. Shaw & Co., where he became the youngest senior vice president in the company's history.

In 1994, Bezos left D. E. Shaw & Co. to start his own company, which he called Amazon.com. The original idea behind Amazon was to create an online bookstore that offered customers a wider selection of books than any physical store could. Bezos initially worked out of his garage, packing and shipping orders himself, but the company grew quickly and became one of the most successful and valuable companies in the world.

Under Bezos' leadership, Amazon expanded beyond books and into other products and services, including music, movies, and eventually, cloud computing. Amazon Web Services (AWS) became one of the largest and most successful cloud computing companies in the world, powering many of the most popular websites and apps on the internet.

Bezos is also known for his personal investments in space exploration and technology. He founded Blue Origin in 2000, a private aerospace company that aims to make space travel more accessible and affordable to the public.

Bezos has faced criticism for his leadership style, the treatment of Amazon employees, and the company's impact on the environment. However, his supporters admire his vision, entrepreneurial spirit, and philanthropic efforts. In 2021, Bezos stepped down as CEO of Amazon but remains involved with the company as its executive chairman.

As of September 2021, Bezos had a net worth of over $194 billion, making him one of the richest people in the world.
